29 December 1935: “. . . Georgia showed me the letter you wrote her & I showed her the one I
received. She is in great shape. Her exhibition opens on Jan 4th & will be a very fine one. Her things
are full of a new kind of radiancy—full of light. I hope she remains well. She has certainly come
through a long siege. . . .”
22 July 1938:“. . . Here I am onThe Hill. The first time in 55 years I am cameraless. Had hoped to
bring some negatives but cut that idea out feeling that even printing would take too great a toll from
me.And I must be ready for The Place when the inner bell rings . . . . Georgia is here since Monday. . .
. [S]he is incapacitated because of an obstreperous left arm. . . .”
16 September 1941: “. . . Georgia will probably remain in New Mexico until November. So she
wrote in her last letter. . . .”
