“Serenade” [op. 425, lyrics by Theodor Gesky]. 4 pages.The third, “Am Grabe” [op. 364?],

additionally dated and signed at end: “New York, 27 Mai [18]72.” 1

signed at upper right above first bar, each notated on three-stave systems except the fourth,

which is on four-stave systems. Inscribed on front blank by music publisher Julius Lee to

collector H. Hessenbruch in Philadelphia, November 23, 1872. Folio, flexible boards,

morocco spine mostly perished; scattered notes in unknown hands, each line of lyrics

accompanied by a line in copyist’s hand, moderate foxing throughout.
