Quincy, 14 July 1799 [5,000/7,500] “I request you to act as Surgeon on Board the Constitution as you have done from the 17th of Decem- ber last. I shall write this day to the Secretary of the Navy to Send you a Commission in form, to meet you at Norfolk.” Pierre St. Medard (1755-1827) served between 1798 and 1801 as Surgeon aboard the Constitu- tion , which, during this period, was engaged in the Quasi-War against France.
