The earliest item in this exemplary sale is a recently discovered Untitled (Landscape), oil on canvas painting by Robert S. Duncanson,- whose work is currently on view in his first East Coast show at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill, NY. A Selection of mid-century masterworks includes Charles White's Work, which is the first large-scale drawing from his important 1950s period to come to auction. Promenade, an experimental painting by Abstract Expressionist Norman Lewis, has never been exhibited. Barkley L. Hendricks' diptych Twins comprises two life-size paintings from his important "white on white" period of the 1970s. The auction will also feature paintings from the estate of Lois Mailou Jones.
