The prints by photographer James E. Irving include images of substantial sarcophagi, tasteful tombstones, simple to elaborate obelisks and pedestals, and magnificent mausoleums, some with highly detailed Gothic ornamentation. Albumen prints, the images measuring approximately 9¼x7¾ inches (23.5x19.7 cm.), and the reverse, mounted recto/verso, each with an inventory notation, in the negative, or in ink, in the image area. 4to, black-stamped buff cloth with Irving's credit and address; soiled with light pencil notations on front cover. 1890s
