violin school in person. 3 pages, 4to, written on a single folded sheet, with integral address

. . . What you told me of your esteemed daugh-
ter’s violin studies was of utmost interest to me,
and I am very pleased that my violin school was of
some use to your daughter . . . . If she continues to
practice the exercises and the two concerti strictly
according to the instructions, she will gradually
assimilate my methods and be able to perform my
other violin compositions, concerti, solo quartets,
potpourris, etc. in the spirit with which they were
composed. . . .”
Spohr (1784-1859) was a German violin virtu-
