[28], 284, [2] (of [4]) pages, with second state of preliminary leaf õ2 and mounted correction slip on page 45; lacks final blank. 4to, 243x181 mm, contemporary sprinkled calf gilt, front joint cracked and partly reinforced, cords intact, rear joint starting at top; infrequent and minimal spotting or marginal soiling, few faint ink marks in blank outer margin of page 63, slight stain in blank lower margin of page 69, faint dampstain along top edge of several leaves toward end, early manuscript corrections in ink on pages 9, 57, and 176; modern morocco pull-off case, scuffed. Paris: Denis Thierry, 1668 [10,000/15,000] first edition of books 1-6, containing 124 fables; issue with the imprint of DenisThierry, who shared the printing privilege with Claude Barbin.
