Autograph Letter Signed, [to Charles Coligny?], in French, reporting that he has rewritten the beginning, requesting that proofs be sent soon, requesting that he convey to Arsene Houssaye thanks for proposing to advertise the novel’s publication, suggesting that the work be published in two installments and, in a postscript, adding: “It is understood that Mr. Houssaye has in his hand half the novel. I will send him the balance around August 20th” 1 page, 8vo; remnants of prior mounting at corners verso, faint scattered soiling. Paris, 8 June 1867 [600/900] “The problem is fixed.
