[12,000/18,000] The prolific and popular illustrator was known for his numerous Saturday Evening Post covers as well as his over 300 armed services recruiting posters. In the 1940s, he was behind many of the most famous advertising campaigns of the day including those for Gulf Oil, Arrow Shirts, and Pall Mall, in addition to the widely run “gentlemen in the know” advertisements for Four Roses Whiskey offered in lots 4 and 5. In 1976, he was elected to the Illustrators Hall of Fame .
