Various sizes, trimmed to images and mounted to early cards, many with original Arundel Society printed title labels pasted on; mounts brittle, chipped and with glue residue from previous top mats or framing; images bright and undamaged. London, later half of the nineteenth century [6,000/9,000] This group of fine chromolithographs represents a nearly complete run of the approximately 200 facsimiles of important European Renaissance paintings published by the ambitious Arundel Society in the mid-to-late-19th century.The faith- fully copied images offer a wide range of religious masterworks, with at least one picture by Durer, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Titan, Masaccio, Fra Angelico, Bartolomeo, Raphael, Botticelli, Ghir- landaio, Perugino, Carpaccio, Giotto, Mantegna, Veronese and many others. Several multiple-panel works are presently complete, includingVan Eyck’s Ghent Altarpiece and Memling’s Triptych of Jan Floreins and Passion Altarpiece.
