Born in Tallahassee, Florida, Zoe Charlton received her BFA at Florida State University in Studio Art and completed her MFA at the University of Texas at Austin in Painting. She has participated in residencies at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Creative Alliance in Baltimore. Charlton’s work often confronts themes such as isolation/alienation, gender, the human figure, intersectionality, cultural commentary and ethnic identity. Her work has been exhibited at the Contemporary Art Museum Houston, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, Poland, Haas and Fischer Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland, Clementine Gallery, New York and Wendy Cooper Gallery, Chicago. Charlton taught at Missouri State University and Southwestern University in Texas. She is currently an Associate Professor of Art at American University in Washington, DC. [3,000/5,000]
