The fall autographs auction will contain a large selection of Presidential autographs, including a letter from
William Henry Harrison ordering a new suit, presumably for his inauguration.There are also excellent Civil
War and literary items, including an ALS by Robert E. Lee to George W. Cullum, expressing his regret
for having to relinquish his post as Superintendent of West Point to lead the 2nd Cavalry.
Especially amusing is an Ernest Hemingway letter to his fishing buddy, Charles Thompson.Writing from
Cuba, Hemingway remarks, “Get the Florida over here next Thursday. Friday we will fish the Gulf . . .” In
addition, there are astronauts, entertainers, artists, scientists, musicians and others.
