This spring, our auction rooms will be filled with rare,
highly sought-after books, visually stunning works of ar t
and quirky ephemeral material. In May, we’ll offer scarce,
cutting-edge posters from the Vienna Secession through
the late 20th century, many with enduring designs for
recognizable brands; as well as diverse early printed books
and scientific, medical and travel titles.
June will be a busy month, with a large sale of maps and
atlases, botanical and ornithological prints, and ephemeral
items such as cards and table games; a superb assortment
of unique works and prints by American and contemporary
artists; and a rich offering of 19th & 20th century literature,
including a number of first editions by Charles Dickens,
in this, his bicentennial year. The month ends with a sale
of affordably priced prints that we call a Discovery sale,
because you never know what treasures you might find.
Then we will be back on August 1 with an auction of
Vintage Posters that features tantalizing beach and summer
resort advertisements. Read on for more highlights from
these sales. For the most up-to-date information please visit
our website, www.swanngalleries.com.
