Les Ballades du Grand Testament. sixty-eight etched plates by léon courbouleix incorporating text in lettre bâtarde and cartoon-like illustrations of orgiastic tavern scenes and depictions of prostitutes, debauched clerics, and other lowlife, with frontispiece portrait of Villon. Initials supplied in red. Folio, contemporary unsigned French binding consisting of distinctive organ-pipe design of black morocco over fluted wooden boards with red suede endleaves, oblong horizontal aperture in front cover exposing author's name stamped on free free endleaf, front joint starting, small scrape on front cover; scattered minor foxing; morocco-edged board slipcase, slightly worn.
