A GREAT RARITY HOUDINI, HARRY. An Open Letter to His Excellency Calvin Coolidge President of the United States. 2 pages, folio; with the sheet joined as issued; boldly Signed "Houdini" on the second page. Np, circa 1925
- Notes: one of the great houdini rarities. This petition is boldly Signed by Houdini and there is space for the second signature of a like-minded person. The petition was to have been sent to the President in an effort to block the possible repeal of legislation controlling false spiritualistic practices. It is not known how many of these petitions were printed but the number must have been small. Fewer still would have been sent to the President, as Houdini fans would have kept the piece and the bold Houdini signature on the second page. We find no auction records for the piece, nor do we find any mention of it in the many Houdini biographies.
