Cometti is one of many poster artists who worked between World War I and II whom we know nothing about, save for a few images. At first a follower of Cappiello, he turned towards a modernist stylization in the late 20's, clearly influenced by the work of Loupot. Gnome & Rhone was a well known brand of sporty motorbike with the swallow as an emblem. Here, three sensualy stylized swallows are flying at the top of the poster. At the bottom there is a small motorcycle with the typography slanting backwards; contrary to a dynamic impression of speed. A very good example of classic French Art Deco design.
