    This iconic image won Adams the 1969 Pulitzer Prize and a World Press Photo award. Later on he would lament its notoriety: 'The general killed the Viet Cong; I killed the general with my camera." In addition to the Pulitzer, Adams received more than 500 awards for his press photographs.
