Portrait frontispiece and 4 engraved plates. 4to, contemporary full calf; single ornate gilt borders; spine gilt-extra with raised bands; base of spine scuffed, with no significant loss of leather; heavy foxing to 6 leaves of the preliminaries the Appendix, which was bound at the front instead of the rear]; 2 other signatures foxed. London: Colburn, 1812 E350-500 First English Edition. A good source of information on the areas settled largely by the Dutch. Includes a short vocabulary of the " Koosas, ' today called Xhosas.
