(ALASKA.) Group of 8 views of the Klondike boomtown of Skagway. Silver prints, 2 x 6½ inches, on original plain mounts with two display holes punched on each side; minor wear. Skagway, AK, circa 1900

  • Notes: Four of these professional-quality images show the buildings of Skagway's downtown, two show the harbor, and one shows a few shacks on the outskirts of town. One shows the steamer Humboldt at the dock; it began regular service from Seattle to Skagway in 1896. One of the closer views of downtown shows several visible store signs, including the Idaho Liquor House, Klondike Trading Company, and Yukon Outfitters. The same Klondike Trading Company building is visible in the distance in one of the farther views. These images are uncredited, and we have found no other examples.
