Autograph Letter Signed, "A. Einstein,"

to violinist Lili Petschnikoff ("Dear Mrs. Petschnikoff"), in German, requesting that she forward the enclosed letter [not present] to Mr. R[odzinski, music director of Los Angeles Philharmonic]. Additionally Signed and Inscribed by Elsa Einstein in the blank space after her husband's letter: "Greetings. We are thinking of you. Love, Your Elsa Einstein," in German. ½ page, 4to, personal stationery; faint marginal discoloration from prior matting, few short closed tears at edges repaired verso with linen, remnants of hinging along upper edge verso, folds.

  • Notes: "I ask you to please send the enclosed letter to Mr. R., in aid of a wonderful young musician. I am delighted to be able to send you greetings on this occasion."

    In his letter to cellist Carl Heinz Jucker on August 29, 1931, Albert Einstein asks him to inquire with Mrs. Petschnikoff whether she forwarded his letter to Mr. Rodzinski since, Einstein says, no reply was received.
