(ALBERT EINSTEIN)
A file from Wide World Pictures and Associated Press Photos with 100 photographs retracing Einstein's personal and professional life.
Spanning over three decades, the file includes pictures of a young Einstein playing the violin, Einstein and his family taking the oath of U.S. citizenship in Trenton in 1940, his office at Princeton University, numerous individual portraits at various stages of his life, as well as photographs taken during his countless meetings with the scientific community and a print of a typed letter to President F.D. Roosevelt. Silver ferrotyped prints, the images measuring approximately 8½x6½ inches (21.6x16.5 cm.), and slightly smaller, and the reverse, most with a Wide World Pictures stamp, some with an Associated Press Photos stamp, and most with a press clipping or slug, on verso. 1919-55; printed 1950s-60s

  • Condition: This group of press photographs documenting Einstein's personal and professional life is in good condition.

The surfaces of the prints evidence the scattered imperfections associated with press prints, including handling creases, impressions, and tiny tears. Most of the imperfections are primarily visible in strong, raking light and are not distracting. The tears, when present, are primarily confined to the thin margins. The imperfections do not detract from the images themselves.
