Acquired Paul Prouté Galerie, Paris, by the current owner, with a copy of the original invoice and a photo-certificate of authenticity by Prouté dated February 20, 2006.

This is a study by Cabanel (1823-1889) for a decorative design for the grand apartment of Constant Say in Paris, on the Place Vendôme, 1880s; it was later the aprtment of the Vicomtesse de Trédern and subsequently the Duc de Brissac.
