  • Condition: Alfred Stieglitz's "The Steerage," from Camera Work Number 36 is in excellent condition. The print is rich and lush, with contrasting, diverse tones, all of which are luminous with light and detail.

The photograuvre is dry mounted to a later board. There are a couple soft mounting ripples at the left margin, but these are minor and not immediately apparent. Otherwise the margins are overall clean and neat. The later mount is very light soiled on verso.

Provenance: Doris Bry (1920-2014), a scholar of Alfred Stieglitz and Georgia O'Keeffe's business agent and confidant; to the Present Owner, New York

The print is accompanied by a white metal frame, which shows some light wear and chips. The print was gifted in this manner to the present owner from Doris Bry, and may be original.
