Crite printed many offset lithographs of his drawings. The back of the mat is signed and inscribed by the artist with his Boston address, the title and the following description in ink: "This wooden doll is carried in the back of the skirts of young girls in Nigeria. It is a symbol one might say of the fertility cycle of conception birth and maternity. I have shown it here with a Mother and Child one might see in any city of the Americas, this case Boston, and with this figure of West Africa indicate a bit of the Ancestral Heritage of the Black in the Americas."
