ALPHONSE MUCHA (1860-1939). TRINER'S BITTER WINE. 1907. 21x13 inches, 54x33 cm.

ALPHONSE MUCHA (1860-1939) TRINER'S BITTER WINE. 1907.
21 1/4x13 inches, 54x33 cm.
Condition A: calendar sheets attached. Matted and framed.
One of only two commercial projects Mucha executed during his stay in America between 1904-1912, most likely due to the fact that the proprietor of this business, Joseph Triner, was a Czech immigrant well-regarded within the foreign community. Although printed in 1907, the popularity of this image was so great that it was used for years, as exemplified by the attached calendar pages from 1930. Rennert / Weill 92.
