Plate 166 of Les Maitres de l'Affiche (the poster was printed in 1897). This biblical-theme play, written by Sarah Bernhardt's favorite author, Edmond Rostand, has been long forgotten by the theatrical world. All that survives of its memory is Mucha's excellent poster. A classic image of his with its halo, mosaic-effect and his signature flowing hair and inventive typography. It also boasts an unusual attribute, which is the heavy use of blue; a color rarely seen in his work. Rennert / Weill 24 (var).
