AMERICAN AIRLINES. 1948.

39x29 3/4 inches.
Condition A-: horizontal fold; repaired tears in margins.
After the war McKnight Kauffer's biggest client was American Airlines, followed by Pan-American. By 1948 he had already designed 23 posters for the airline. All of them are destination posters, advertising places like New York, Mexico, Boston, etc. In contrast, this poster merely advertises the concept of travelling. In a brilliantly rendered concept McKnight Kauffer turns a man's head into a globe and his suitcase into a billboard for the airline.
