(AMERICAN REVOLUTION--CURRENCY.) 10 pieces of Continental currency from the early years of the war. Each about 3 x 3 3/4 inches, printed on both sides, signed by various committee members; generally worn except as noted. Philadelphia: Hall & Sellers, 1776-1779


  • Notes: These notes were all printed for the Continental government by Hall & Sellers [successors to Benjamin Franklin] of Philadelphia. Most are denominated as "Continental Currency," with some issued by the United States and some by the United Colonies. Includes:

    From the 9 May 1776 issue: Two Dollars, Three Dollars, Seven Dollars, plus another Two Dollars note altered by hand to read "May 20, 1776."

    From the 22 July 1776 issue: Thirty Dollars.

    From the 26 February 1777 issue: Four Dollars, Seven Dollars; the latter being in fairly strong condition.

    From the 11 April 1778 issue: Four Dollars.

    From the 26 September 1778 issue: Twenty Dollars.

    From the 14 January 1779 issue: Two Dollars, printed in red and black, in particularly strong condition.

Shipping
