(AMERICAN REVOLUTION--CURRENCY.) Group of 15 pieces of canceled paper currency issued by Massachusetts during the war. Each about 2 1/2 x 3 inches or 3 x 3 3/4 inches, printed on two sides, variously signed by committee members; generally worn, each with diamond-shaped cancellation hole cut from center, three also with red inked "interest paid one year" stamps. Boston and Philadelphia, 1778 and 1780

    9 notes from the May 1780 issue: One Dollar (two examples), Two Dollars (two examples), Three Dollars, Four Dollars (two examples), Five Dollars (two examples), Eight Dollars, and Twenty Dollars (two examples), signed variously on recto by Ebenezer Wales, Richard Cranch, Loammi Baldwin, Thomas Dawes, and Samuel Henshaw, most also countersigned on red and black verso by Peter Boyer, Nathaniel Appleton, or Thomas Walley.
