"A compendium of testimonies, hearings, investigations, etc., both favorable and unfavorable to Morton's claim, including reprints of the 1852 Majority and Minority Committee Reports, the latter supplemented by adverse marginal notes" (Howell).     Inscribed and signed by Morton on the front pastedown to the Mercantile Library Association of New York City, with a few letters in the top line partly obscured by tape remnant, and the initial G. in Morton's signature obliterated.
