"Ignace Gaston Pardies' speculations on light were contained in an unfinished treatise on refraction which Huygens saw in manuscript before 1673. This treatise has been lost, but the Jesuit father Pierre Ango had seen Pardies' manuscript and adopted some of his ideas in a book on optics published in 1682." (c.f. A.I.
