Notes: "It is with a great deal of pleasure, my dear brother-in-law, that I inform you that the Queen has just given birth very happily to a boy whom I have named the Duke of Normandy. I know well enough your friendship for me, my dear brother-in-law, to be sure that you will share all my satisfaction..."
The newborn son, Louis XVII, was imprisoned during the French Revolution and his fate remains unknown, thus being nicknamed the Lost Dauphin.
