ANONYMOUS GLACIER NATIONAL PARK. Circa 1938. 19x14 inches.
ANONYMOUS GLACIER NATIONAL PARK. Circa 1938.
19x14 1/8 inches.
Condition B+: soiling and slight foxing in margins and image. Silk-screen. Printed on thick stock.
Glacier National Park is in the North of Montana, on the Canadian border. It was established as a National Park by President Taft in 1910, making it the 10th park in the United States to receive that honor. Traffic was largely taken to the park via the Great Northern railroad, who actually built a series of nine chalets in the park, which were run as hotels for visitors. In 1932 the completion of the "Going-to-the-sun road" opened the park to many more tourists. This road was such an impressive feat of engineering that it is curious not to see it included on this poster as one of the sights. What is depicted is a view of Mount Gould and Swift Current Lake.
All items are offered for sale subject to Swann Galleries' standard terms and conditions of sale, which are published in our catalogues and are posted below.
