Chiaroscuro woodcut printed in dark green, olive and tan on cream laid paper, circa 1540. 265x260 mm; 10 1/2x10 1/4 inches. Likely the first state (of 2). Trimmed on or just inside the outer border line, repaired tear lower center, through the right foot and leg of the standing figure at the right. A good, evenly-printed and well-inked impression of this extremely scarce print.
We have found only 2 other impressions at auction in the past 20 years. Bartsch 26.
