Apollo 11 Launch Operations Checklist. A single sheet approximately 5.5x8 inches, being pages 2-9 and 2-10 from the checklist. Side 2-9 has the last part of a verification list for Mike Collins in the Lower Equipment Bay. Neil Armstrong would then configure the ECS system about 20 minutes after launch. Page 2-10 has the beginning of the system verification and monitoring prior to TLI. The sheet is from Section 2 titled: Boost-Insertion - TLI and was part of the complete manual that Armstrong and the Apollo 11 crew used in the Command Module Apollo Mission Simulator at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas. With a Typed Letter Signed by Buzz Aldrin. NASA/MSC, 1969

  • Notes: Page 2-9 has been inscribed and signed: "Used in training for Apollo XI, Buzz Aldrin." The Typed Letter Signed reads in part: "This section in particular was extensively used by Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins... Neil had the command responsibility to initiate an abort if the launch profile deviated from the planned events outlined in this checklist section. The launch profile was the most intense training we as a crew performed together. The simulator was an excellent learning device and this checklist was an important tool to insure our correct performance. This training was a key step which enabled our flight to make the first manned lunar landing on July 20, 1969."
