first edition. Wightwick was an accomplished architect and authored other works on contemporary architecture. Directly after a tour of Italy and the publication of this, his first book, he entered the office of Sir John Soane and in 1829 opened his own practice. Select Views was beautifully printed by the celebrated Charles Joseph Hullmandel, using one of his best lithographers, Thomas M. Baynes. Abbey, Travel 182.
