Printing-out paper and albumen prints, approximately 6 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches and the reverse, most identified and with the photographer's credit in the negative, many with penciled notations on mount recto. Large oblong 4to, gilt-lettered and gilt-pictorial red cloth, front and rear cover detached, lacks backstrip, disbound. 1890s (FIN-DE-SIECLE ARGENTINA) A SUPERB GROUP OF PHOTOGRAPHS "showing the diversity of Argentine life. Boote's images create a portrait of his country that extends from the Argentine outback to the cosmopolitan centers of Buenos Aires and La Plata. This is a group marked by contrast and interesting juxtapositions: between the rough frontier life of the gauchos, and the swirling commotion of Buenos Aires' busy streets; between the poverty of the Argentine Indian dwellings and the lavish interiors and exteriors of the mansions of the wealthy." [SEE ILLUSTRATION].
