20 original works of art, 6 of them laid down in the album, the others executed directly into the album. Oblong 12mo, 4 x 7 inches, original buckram album titled "Sketches" on front board, moderate wear; text block detached from binding but generally minimal wear to contents; compiler's inked address stamp on both pastedowns.

  • Notes: The album was compiled by architect James Francis White (1902-1965) of New York and New Jersey. Notable pieces we have been able to identify include: 

    Gordon Grant (1875-1962), pencil sketch of two men in a rowboat.

    Franklin Booth (1875-1948), ink landscape dedicated to White in 1925.

    Thomas Fogerty (1873-1938), pencil sketch of bearded man, laid down

    Lauros Monroe Phoenix (1885-1977), watercolor of Indian chief (illustrated, below)

    J. Duncan Gleason (1881-1959), color pencil waterfront view

    Dorothy Roe Brown (1904-1989), pencil portrait of a woman

Upon request, Swann will facilitate the shipping of purchases to out-of-town buyers at an additional charge for packing, shipping and insurance, but will not be responsible for any loss, damage or delay resulting from the packing, handling and shipping thereof. Unless specific instructions are received, Swann is the sole judge of the method to be used for shipment. Packing and shipping costs will be noted on the invoice mailed to successful bidders after the sale, and are based on the actual costs involved. Be advised that a full commercial invoice must accompany any purchase shipped outside the US.
