(ART.) MORON, A. The Fortune Teller (supplied title).
(ART.) MORON, A. The Fortune Teller (supplied title). 15 1/2 x 20 inches, acrylic and watercolor on artist's board; mounted with double frames, probably the creation of the artist. [Haiti, circa 1960s]
- Notes: Very disturbing, but not altogether atypical Haitian painting that depicts a well-dressed older woman sitting at a table with a man, apparently in the midst of a card reading. The man holds the ace of spades--the death card. In the room, a huge snake (Danbala) leaning over the man''s shoulder holds a candle in its mouth; a man and a woman and a goat hang upside down from the ceiling; many other voodoo symbols fill the room.
- Condition: All items are offered for sale subject to Swann Galleries'' standard terms and conditions of sale, which are published in our catalogues.
