Rackham''s sister, sleeping * Rackham''s first studio. Together, 2 early graphite drawings on paper. The first measures 225x140 mm; 8 3/4x5 1/2 inches. Initialed in lower right corner; Studio measures 228x292 mm; 9x11 1/2 inches. Signed, initialed, dated May 26, 1892, and labled "New St. Kensington." Additionally signed by Rackham on verso with his address of 12 New Court Lincoln''s Inn WC.

  • Notes: The studio sketch was created when Rackham was twenty-five years old and working as a reporter and illustrator for The Westminster Budget. His first book illustrations were published a year later in "To the Other Side" by Thomas Rhodes.
