First English edition, quarto; incomplete, lacking final 9 leaves; title printed within architectural border (worm trail to top of border); illustrated with text woodcuts; bound in full modern dark red morocco; defects to paper and paper repairs, including edges trimmed with loss; missing leaves supplied in older manuscript; rare at auction; 7 1/2 x 5 1/4 in.

This curious work was published anonymously in French in 1590 under the title: Devise des Armes des Chevaliers de la Table Ronde, and describes the coats of arms of Arthur's knights of the round table. This English version is dedicated to the Society of Archers and contains lines praising the book and the bow by Thomas Churchyard.
