ARTIST UNKNOWN [LOSS OF FEELING.] 1935.
34 1/2x24 1/2 inches.
Condition B+: restored losses in margins; vertical and horizontal folds. Japan.
This film was based on Karel Capek's seminal work Rosum's Universal Robots (the play from whence the term robot originated). The designer of this poster was clearly influenced by the Stenberg Brothers, as the yellow stripes and the photographic image of the saxophone player demonstrate. A great image and a historical piece, as it is the first appearance of a robot in a film poster, a precedent that has been followed by thousands over the years.
