(BANK of NORTH AMERICA.) Carey, Matthew; editor. Debates and Proceedings of the General Assembly of Pennsylvania, on the Memorials Praying a Repeal or Suspension of the Law Annulling the Charter of the Bank. [1], [2], 132 pages. 8vo, disbound; some staining, early owner's signature on title, terminal leaf detached. Philadelphia, 1786
- Notes: Scarce. Includes many speeches by Robert Morris, the bank's founder, arguing for the continuation of the charter of the first commercial bank in the United States. The charter was repealed largely because of anti-Federalist leanings, as well as an agrarian distrust of a large central bank. Evans 19884; Sabin 10864.
