  • Notes: Barry McKinley was a fashion photographer who changed the face of men''s fashion photography by introducing casual poses and outdoor photo shoots. McKinley photographed in Europe in the 1960s and moved to New York in the 1970s, where he worked for a range of magazines including "Esquire," "GQ," and "Interview."
Donald Sterzin served as Assistant Art Director for "GQ" in the late 1970s and as Art Director from 1981-83. He later worked in advertising for a range of companies including Ralph Lauren. Sterzin, along with photographer Bruce Weber, made a radical decision to move away from New York modeling agencies and seek clean-cut young men in college for models, developing a more streamlined depiction of men's fashion photography. Despite the exposed male bodies Sterzin and Weber depicted in their shoots, these images appealed to a wide readership, creating fun and playful group images.
