Chicago, 1947 E200/300 IMPORTANT LETTER REGARDING RECRUITING OF NEGRO PLAYERS BY THE MAJOR WHITE TEAMS. Joy cites necessity of having a "properly organized" league, "if it is to sur-vive." Joy, seeing this coming, writes that white major league teams were acquiring Negro players at much lower salaries. He urges an "incorporated legal Negro Major League," to protect Negro players..
