First edition in Latin, octavo, translated from the French Les Observations de Plusieurs Singularitez, by botanist Charles de l'Ecluse (1526-1609) [see the previous lot]; illustrated with text woodcuts scaled down for this edition, depicting animals, (including mammals, reptiles, crustaceans & a dragon), plants (edible, medicinal, & woody), birds, a few small maps, and images of local people showing their garb; bound in later half green morocco (damp staining to contents throughout); ex libris Joseph Schur (1896-1974), with receipt from 1971, and bookplate of Nathan Schur; 6 7/8 x 4 1/2 in.
