Bernard Villemot 1911-1989 96 Oceanic. 1968 33.5 x 41 inches. Publi-Rexor, Paris. Condition A. Villemot was one of the most prolific poster designers after the Second World War in France. Utilizing bright colors and a painterly approach, Villemot designed numerous posters for Perrier, Orangina, and Bally Shoes, all of them bright, joyful, and intriguing. Stylistically, this rare poster is quite a typical. Realistically rendered, it is nevertheless surrealistic in concept, with the image of a TV screen that shows a hand pointing at the text. On top of that, a French sailor's hat, which bears the brand name "Oceanic," and the sea and the blue sky in the background. ref. Les Affiches de Villemot by Jean-Francois Bazin, Denoel, Paris,1985 - listed p. 142, no.214
