Togedyr with the blasyng of armys. manuscript in english, written in cursive script in red and black ink, 25 lines, recto and verso, on Whatman wove paper watermarked 1812. illuminated in colors and gold with over one hundred coats of arms and several historiated initials. 37 leaves, including calligraphic title. 335x288 mm, contemporary russia handsomely blocked in gold and blind in cathedral style with large rose window centerpiece on covers, attractively rebacked. 19th-century bookplate of George Tuck. - Notes: Signed and dated "Philip Absalom 1818" at the end, a skilfully executed transcription of the section on heraldry from the sporting treatise generally known as the Boke of St. Albans, which was first printed there in 1486. The historiated initials include depictions of St. Albans, Virgin and Child, a bishop, the King of England, and grotesque mythical creatures.
