Stompers, a seminal New York City gallery, was one of the earliest public proponents of hardcore leather art. It was open from 1978 until 1989. It took its name from being situated in the back of a boot store. Owned and operated by Louis Weingarden, the gallery gave valueable early exposure to many artists who are now quite promoinent.
