Amos n' Andy wind-up "Fresh Air Taxi," 7x4x3 inches, stamped tin with original paint; very light wear; motor runs but tires are wobbly. New York: Louis Marx, circa 1935 Amos 'n Andy, the invention of 2 white vaudevillians (Gosden and Corell), made its debut in 1928 on a local radio station. It was picked up by NBC and premiered nationally in 1929. It was the most listened to radio show for 3 decades. The NAACP effectively put a stop to the show by pointing out that it was stereotyping Blacks.
